Our History
God has been with us.
Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church was organized in the year of 1930 under of the leadership of Rev. S.C. Chatman, who remained as pastor for one year. Late in the year of 1931, Rev. Range was called. He was pastor for one year. Rev. J. Wright was called too pastor in the year of 1932. He was pastor from 1932 to 1934. In the year of 1934, Rev. J. Williams was called. He was pastor from 1934 to 1938. In the late part of 1938, Rev. Range was recalled. He was pastor from 1938 to 1954. Late in the year of 1954, Rev. L. Monroe was called. He was pastor from 1954 to 1956. Elder W. D. Judge was called late in the year of 1956. He led this great church until 1961. At that time, Elder G. Hill became pastor. He was pastor until 1964. In October of 1965, God saw fit to place in this vineyard Elder R.T. Rivers. Elder Rivers pastored until his health failed, causing him to retire in October 2006. Elder Rivers led this flock for over 40 years. We the members of Shiloh can truly say we were blessed that God sent such a man to watch over this flock. Shiloh has been in existence for 87 years now. Therefore, we can truly say that we have been blessed!
In March of 2007, Elder Gary Brown was called. He was pastor until 2010. In May 2010, God sent our present Pastor Elder Alvin Tyson; a man of God, Teacher and Preacher.
Across from our present location, which is now our parking lot, stood the original Shiloh. The first Shiloh was erected under the leadership of Rev. Range in the year of 1942 at the corner of Osprey Avenue and 31 Street. Under the leadership of Rev. Monroe and Clubs A&D, the first bank account for Shiloh’s Building Fund was opened. Our present Sanctuary was erected in the year of 1961 under the leadership of Elder W. D. Judge. Under the leadership of Elder G. Hill our annex was erected. In 2017, the annex was remodeled. The trustee board and the giving of some of our members worked to make this possible along with the church growing in faith as Dr. Tyson preached on the power of the mustard seed in 2015.
Down through the years according to our Historical Data, our church officers reads as thus: The Deacons were: Deacons Howard, P.C. Cole, Robert Houston, James Johnson, Eddie Stephens, P.L. Anderson, later known as Elder P.L. Anderson, Charlie Corbert, Saul Johnson, Jessie Hubbard Sr. who is now known as Minister Jessie Hubbard Sr., R.T. Rivers, known as Elder R.T. Rivers, Clarence Henderson, Thomas Philpot, and Jessie Hubbard, Jr., Robert Porter Deacons now serving are: Robert Smith, Jr. (Chairmen), Darrell Butler, and Gregory Swain.
Pastor's Vision
Vision Statement
I want to preach and teach the Word of God to change church members into missionaries for the Kingdom of God. We want the people of God to be lead by ministries that are excited about the church and its progress. We look forward to seeing our church expanded, renovated, and revitalized! We see God’s people being molded and shaped by the Holy Spirit into the image of God. Then we can minister to all people, whether it be spiritually, financially, or emotionally. We are doing a great work and cannot come down!
